This position affords a unique opportunity to apply a knowledge of refining chemistry and engineering technology to the conversion of hydrocarbon feedstocks to clean transportation fuels, as well as support the development of new hydroprocessing process and catalyst technologies. The role will actively partner with other technology specialists in the development of new projects and take a leading role in projects that are selected. The position will also periodically support marketing efforts by UOP's business units by providing technical support including customer demonstration testing, writing technical papers, developing yield estimates and performing economic analyses.

Position responsibilities:

-Provide technical support in Hydroprocessing technologies in Development, including hydrocracking and hydrotreating experiments performed in the UOP pilot plants and other new technologies that are presently in early stages of development.

-Interface with other UOP departments including Pilot Plants, Analytical, Process Design, and Advanced Characterization to design new technology solutions for UOP's customers.

-Lead or contribute as a member of new technology delivery teams for internal development projects and collaborations with external companies. These projects are of varied complexity, including continuous improvement of UOP's knowledge base on hydroprocessing technology fundamentals, process configuration, reactor internals design, catalyst formulation, and reaction kinetic models.

-Plan, champion, and deliver assigned programs on budget, on time, and within the constraints of agreed scope and resources.

-Act as a technical contact for hydroprocessing technology marketing and sales personnel.

-Provide commercial sales support for customer presentations, design and operating requirements, and technical papers.

-Evaluate and integrate developments in other technology areas for applications in hydroprocessing.

-Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed projects and providing recommendations for future projects in assigned technology areas.

*Must have ability to travel 10% annually domestically and overseas, as needed*

20 Provide technical support in HP for experiments performed in the pilot plants

20 Lead new technology delivery teams for development projects

20 Provide technical support for customer pilot plant runs for new sales projects

20 Provide technical support for new raw and trial materials certification

20 Interface with Pilot Plants, Analytical and Process Design for new technology solutions

YOU MUST HAVE
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, together with a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in refining technologies including process troubleshooting, new product development, or commercialization of new technologies is required.
  • Or a Ph. D in Chemical Engineering, together with a minimum of 1 year of internship or post graduate process development experience in support of refining process technologies is required.
WE VALUE
  • Design or operations experience in hydroprocessing technology is highly desired.
  • Experience in hydroprocessing catalyst or process development is highly desirable.
  • Strong interest in R&D work.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and project management is important.
