Innovate to solve the world's most important challenges
The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technology (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic, and engineered material components for our nation’s defense system. Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers’ expectations. To accomplish this, we research, develop, and deploy some of the most advanced design and manufacturing technologies in use in the United States today.
In this role, you will perform a variety of advanced first-principle calculations, namely DFT, to support production and research and development of metal and metal alloy materials. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop advanced methods, material models, and techniques for further understanding and predicting mechanical properties. Furthermore, this engineer will be expected to leverage other areas of the business to provide unique solutions.
The candidate will be part of the Mesoscale focus area within the KCNSC, where the candidate will be expected to lead the effort and oversee scoping the work of various projects, promote Mesoscale solutions within KCNSC, and lead other team members. The candidate will also work with the mesoscale focus area leader to determine future manufacturing application areas for the integrated computational materials engineering methodology. Additionally, the candidate may perform other duties as required.
This will be a one to three-year position with a potential to transition into a full-time position.
