The Senior Engineering Manager should be a strong technical firmware leader who can develop and clearly communicate a vision for leading edge technologies that will solve customer problems. The Senior Engineering Manager will define and execute on product roadmaps ensuring that prioritization and progress is clearly communicated. Candidates also must have a proven track record of delivering results preferably in an HVAC, Controls, or Refrigeration environment. This is a highly visible role that requires partnering with global teams and senior leaders.

As a Senior Engineering Manager for the Homes Comfort team, the successful candidate will lead the firmware product development team to deliver global product platforms utilizing advanced sensing technologies, microcontrollers, connected technologies and software for delightful customer interface.Homes Comfort offers unmatched solutions in providing comfort and healthy home solutions to consumers and contractors throughout the world. You will lead the Comfort Firmware Engineering Team which is part of the global Homes business.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Homes and Global Distribution team at Honeywell! Homes and Global Distribution is a leader in the home heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls and security markets, and a leading global distributor of security and fire protection products. In 2018, Honeywell will be spinning off the Homes and Global Distribution business into a stand-alone, publicly traded company. Being a stand-alone company will provide the business the independence, focus, direct financial resources, and flexibility required to adapt quickly to market and customer dynamics, and we want you to be part of its evolution.


  • Ensure the Homes Comfort Firmware Engineering Team delivers a robust stream of new, innovative products that deliver rapid, profitable growth for the business.
  • Take responsibility and ownership for the entire firmware engineering function for Comfort offerings and drive action across the organization.
  • Ensure the engineering quality and sustainability of the existing Comfort portfolio.
  • Develop a world-class firmware Engineering Team by actively managing the careers, training, and performance of the engineering team.
  • Support development of multi-generation product plans and roadmaps for Homes Comfort product lines
  • Interact with the Comfort Business teams to ensure engineering and marketing are fully aligned
  • Establish and implement the budgetary and project planning, coordination and control of all Home Comfort engineering firmware product developments.
  • Manage project cost, quality and schedule in a cross-functional matrix environment
  • Ensure that appropriate technologies are identified, researched, and developed for timely introduction into Honeywell products and systems
  • Management of new product developments including Resource Planning and Management
  • The successful candidate will work closely with engineering peers and Homes Comfort marketing teams to develop and deliver customer driven solutions. Building strong relationships will be critical to success. To excel in this role, you must be a mature self-starter who is able build respect, and influence others in an entrepreneurial fashion

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7 years of experience in technical resources management

  • 5 years of experience in managing complex projects or multiple projects combined into a program with demonstrated success

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience leading globally distributed cross functional teams
  • Knowledge in Agile product development process
  • MBA or any other Management Diploma/Certificate/Degree
  • Ability to set judicious expectations and manage them with key stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the development team
  • Ability to deal with conflicting demands of the role, wins concessions without impacting relationships
  • Ability to be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic, able to escalate risks and issues without impacting team morale
