Heat Transfer Engineer

Deliver heat exchange expertise and innovations across Honeywell UOP's broad portfolio of process technologies. You will provide to UOP and its Customers knowledge of the design, specification, operation, and capabilities of heat exchangers for oil refineries and petrochemical plants. You will work with process, equipment, and services specialists, project management, customers, contractors, and vendors to execute UOP projects. You will produce specifications, generate design, evaluate revamps, troubleshoot operations, and communicate results.

  • Provide heat transfer equipment selection, design, and modeling expertise; enhancing UOP's world-leading process technology and delivering value to UOP customers.
  • Deliver expertise to implement process technologies, energy optimizations, and process improvements. Contribute to standards, tools, and infrastructure.
  • Create specifications, perform optimization studies, troubleshoot field operations, and present technical solutions and training.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% world-wide, typically of short duration (generally between a few days and two weeks).

You Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in the design and performance of process heat exchangers for refinery and petrochemical plants, including knowledge of unit operations and the significance of proper process data.

  • An understanding of major process heat exchange technologies (S&T, Air-Cooled, Plate-type, Electric Heaters, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for specification generation, applying appropriate process data, completing accurate exchanger simulations, application of relevant codes and standards (e.g. TEMA and API), and the sharing of data across workgroups.
  • The ability to effectively apply heat transfer expertise for a wide range of engineering and field support activities.
  • Experience providing classroom, workshop, and informal instruction.
  • Capable of producing detailed and accurate summaries, specifications, drawings, tools, presentations, etc.
  • Effectively demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision.
  • Conveys information with clarity and directness, ensuring the message is understood across diverse, global teams.
  • Consistently makes timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.
