Materials and Inventory Leader

Leading critical Supply Chain improvements for the plant, this role has specific responsibility for achieving delivery performance (OTTR, Line Fill) to Customers by ensuring on time delivery of components to site, controlling overall inventory to plant targets and managing customer desk activities.

  • Deputy to the Supply Chain Manager
  • General Leadership, coordination, support and development of the scheduling team
  • Utilise Six Sigma tools where appropriate & strive to continually improve the quality of service provided to External/Internal customers and drive Inventory improvements
  • Ensure that the Team schedules suppliers weekly
  • Monitor the quality of the schedule information weekly (exception messages and data integrity)
  • Work with GVP to ensure that the schedule master data is correctly maintained (Lead time, MOQ, Firm zone. etc)
  • Coordinate the scheduling activity to achieve the budgeted levels of inventory
  • Determine the loading on a supplier is in line with the MRP requirements of the MPS
  • Coordinate the needs of the Planning team to the schedulers
  • Maintain the CTB process to ensure critical parts are controlled
  • Report and Track on the Availability to MPS weekly
  • Report and Track the CTB weekly
  • Coordinate support and advise on projects being undertaken by the supply chain and supply base teams
  • Support and investigate Supplier OTTR measurement
  • Complete robust recovery plans when there is supplier failure
  • Visit suppliers where necessary to establish recovery and action plans to continuously improve the quality of service
  • Support cross functional teams
  • Review the missing parts list weekly and provide information to sales and the Planners on material availability
  • Follow escalation process to highlight critical issues
  • Raise and report the COPQ charges for build losses each week
  • Raise and report the COPQ charges for the premium freight costs
  • Arranging of premium freight to be in line with budget requirements
  • Rectification of any goods receiving issues, both in Cheadle and Stocklor
  • Attend and participate in business meeting, ie, production and management meeting
  • Ensure important issues are recorded and raised at SIOP meetings
  • Attend SIOP pre-meetings
  • Control overall levels of inventory, ensuring targets for inventory level and days-of-sales are achieved
  • Monitor and dispose of Excess and Obsolete (E&O) stock
  • Responsibility for the customer desk activity of customers served by Cheadle plant, partnering with EMEA IAM customer desk
  • Any other duties not listed as required by the business.

  • Creation of strong working relationships between Supply Chain and Supply base personnel at plant and Global level

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRPII software processes, preferably SAP
  • Project Management experience
  • Previous experience in Supply Chain Management or related discipline (Essential)
  • Direct supervisory experience (Essential)
  • Graduate (Desirable)
  • APICS or equivalent Supply Chain Management education (Desirable)
  • Self driven
  • Flexible
