We are looking for a Global Commodity Manager – Mechanicals BTS to help us achieve our goals. The position is within the Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions.

Position Purpose

Plans, organizes, and controls strategic activities surrounding the acquisition of finished products (Buy to Sell). Aligns supply chain strategy of the Line of Business with the Supply Chain and Procurement Management strategy to achieve lowest total costs, effective asset management, continuous quality improvement, delivery, and cycle time performance improvement and early supplier involvement in product development.

Scope Dimensions

  • Responsibility to manage strategies, suppliers and objectives for finished Mechanicals (BTS) on a global level. This includes all kind of negotiations, identification of productivity improvements (CE/VE), contract management and improvement of working capital as well as driving Sourcing Strategy.
  • Partners closely with New Product Engineering, Product management, and Operations to develop product strategies for businesses that are connected to the commodity.
  • Work closely with the SPS Business Sourcing leaders and Product Management to identify viable and world class suppliers that can deliver customized supply solutions where there is linkage and alignment.
  • Annual Spend: $20M+
  • Goals: Annual Operating Plan which includes supplier rationalization, productivity, lead time reductions, payment terms, quality & delivery and contract management.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Through the analysis of current spend, processes and practices, develop an overall sourcing strategy that supports the goals of the SPS businesses.
  • Effectively consolidate direct suppliers with identified strategic partners.
  • Select and manage required suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet the material and subcontract needs of the business.
  • Utilize e-auctions for major spend opportunities.
  • Emerging Region sourcing goals achieved on assigned commodities.
  • Maintains continuous in-depth knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and developing technologies
  • Establishes and manages key supplier performance goals and objectives; communicates periodic results to plan and manages top-level continuous improvement. Develops keen awareness of industry performance benchmarks.
  • Manages and negotiates supply agreements in support of overall supply chain goals and objectives
  • Promotes and monitors early supplier involvement in key product developments, using the supplier’s expertise to optimize quality, delivery and manufacturability

    25 Right and Fast execution of strategies to align with business Growth and New Product Introductions

    25 Ensure Relationship development and management with key Supplier Leaderships

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required, Master degree preferred
  • 5-10 years’ work experience in Procurement and/or Supply Chain

Other Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing /supply base for Mechanicals / Electronics Finished Goods in different regions (Asia, Mexico, Eastern Europe).

  • Knowledge of relays, switches, sensors and accessories to sensors.
  • Leadership - strong managerial skills to work across all functions and levels of an organization; ability to lead change
  • Communication and Interpersonal - crisp verbal skills, effective listening skills; effective facilitation skills; demonstrates high energy and models behaviors to motivate the team.
  • Execution - persistent drive for results utilizing sound project management, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Strategic Thinking - ability to make sound business judgments related to strategic supply philosophies and initiatives.
  • Technical - solid negotiation skills; excellent knowledge of operations management and supply chain processes in a large organization; and knowledge of effective technology driven sourcing processes.
