System Administrator

The Honeywell Connected Service Reliability Team currently consists of passionate engineers who strive to demonstrate excellence in the field of Software Development. We are not only responsible for the uptime of the various IoT services and backend services, but a large portion of the job is to innovate. The Site Reliability Engineers, Ops engineers and system administrators are aligned with the development teams to create shared responsibility, ensuring the proper tooling and automation is in place to measure everything.

Monitoring and alerting of cloud systems and escalation of issues.

Respond to off-hours and weekend emergency alerts, alarms, and requests, in keeping with the team's on-call rotation schedule.

Scripting of system alerts and automation of support services (Powershell, Python, PERL, Bash).

Troubleshoot and manage Container services.

Supporting and management of monitoring and logging systems.

Troubleshoot and monitor networking systems such as VPNs, SDN’s, Load Balancers and general application connectivity issues.

Application and security patching.

Familiarity with industry-standard backup and Disaster Recovery best practices.

Documentation of run books and knowledgebase articles.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
WE VALUE
  • AWS, Azure Certification is a plus.
  • Deep experience with monitoring solutions such as Splunk, ELK and App Dynamics
  • Diverse and global teaming and collaboration
  • Effective communicator
  • Working knowledge of supporting IT infrastructure technologies and standards including software & hardware life cycle, system configuration policies, security, hardening, HA, DR etc.
  • Experience in Linux systems administration, management, best practices, and performance tuning
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as an individual contributor in a systems administration/development or operations role working on highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting large scale infrastructure in well-known Public cloud space, including experience leveraging one or more coding languages for management activities.
  • Ability to communicate and transfer knowledge clearly and effectively in both technical and non-technical manners using run books and wiki pages.
