Honeywell Agile Trainer in United States

The Honeywell Agile Trainer will build an Agile training program and training content for use within the Atlanta Software Center and across Honeywell. The person must have past experience developing Lean/Agile training activities, communicating clearly, and matching their pace to the pace of their students. They must enjoy designing learning environments and activities in creative and unexpected ways, and they must balance stakeholder and employee expectations without being dogmatic or theoretical. They should bring the latest knowledge from across the industry along with hands-on experience in having implemented agile practices across teams/and organizations. They must be a natural networker, lead by influence, and love working with senior executives to software engineers. They must navigate effectively throughout Honeywell to identify stakeholders and collaborators outside the team and across the organization. Deep knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, Lean Start-up, and XP are essential prerequisites for a successful candidate.

This position will report to the Atlanta Software Center Agile Leader and will work from the Atlanta, GA office in Midtown Atlanta.

Essential Job Functions: • Training – Conduct training classes on multiple Agile topics from the beginner to expert level. Conduct Agile boot camps and lunch and learns sessions to augment traditional training sessions. • Training Content – Develop training content for multiple skill levels including online, written, and recorded sessions. • Coordinate Expert Sessions – Bring in outside speakers and experts to augment internally developed content. • Industry knowledge – Stay up to date on industry trends and tools. Able to separate fads from substance. Use data to make business decisions. • Customer Engagement and Experimentation – Define and execute a strategy for effective employee training engagement. Set up fast cycles of customer feedback and use experiments to confirm value of training. Understand major needs of teams within Atlanta and broader Honeywell community. Define and maintain a backlog of training opportunities and activities. • Innovation – Develop new techniques for teaching Agile practices, including games, exercises, and hands-on activities. • Community Building – Build a community of agile champions, practitioners and enthusiasts that promotes learning by sharing. Facilitate a culture of openness, transparency, experimentation, honest introspection, continuous improvement, learning and sharing.

Qualifications

You must have: • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Electrical / Computer Engineering • 5 years of software development including experience with XP technical practices • 5 years of combined Agile experience • 3 years as an Agile trainer • Well-versed in key agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, Lean Start-up, and XP • Exposed to distributed and scaled agile teams, and well-versed with at least one major scaling framework (e.g. SAFe, Nexus, Spotify, LeSS, DAD, etc.) • Hands-on experience with agile technical practices, such as TDD / BDD, refactoring, CI, DevOps, and hands-on experience in few of them • Understands some of the popular industry tools (e.g. JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.) • Must be a good teacher and communicator of vision, ideas and work requirements

Able to effectively speak to large, diverse audiences and small, focused audiences. • Proven ability to maintain positive employee relations by fostering open communication across business units • Positive track record interfacing with customer engineering management, upper management and VP levels • Use of quality and feedback tools such as Six Sigma and Net Promoter Score to identify cause and effect • Highly desirable to have professional exposure and experience to adjoining space like innovation games, design thinking, human-centered design, lean startups, new product development, coaching, etc. • Being well-connected in the industry such as various agile forums, user groups, and is a frequent speaker/thought leader • Have wide exposure to different domains such as enterprise software, embedded and systems software, internet, big data, etc. Honeywell is an equal opportunity employer.
