The Production Support Engineering team is responsible for executing Advanced Product Quality Planning and Flawless Launch Process. Production Support Engineering will be driving linkage between Engineering & Technology and Integrated Supply Chain to ensure Flawless Launch. This is a newly formed organization to drive culture change of launch on time with zero PPM. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong engineering, quality and operations background. Intent of this position is to provide strong support to engineering team by performing Advanced Product Quality Planning task and working closely with cross functional team Integrated Supply Chain, Quality, Program Management and engineering to execute Flawless Launch Process. Position requires interacting various product groups during product launch process to facilitate and execute Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, KCC, lessons learned to achieve Flawless Launch. Position reports to Launch COE leader.

  • Prepare Flawless Launch Estimates for new programs using Aerospace Estimation Tool
  • Facilitate and create Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis for new product launches
  • Define Key Critical Characteristics based on lessons learned
  • Analyze past warranty/quality failure data and provide input to Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis
  • Facilitate and drive by working closely with AME, Quality, Project Management and Plant New Product Introduction for Design for Manufacturing
  • Facilitate and help create risk assessment at various Integrated Product Development System phases
  • Ability to challenge engineering and others for risk mitigation plan on product launches
  • Collaborate with AME and Quality to follow Advanced Product Quality Planning practices
  • Ability to handle multiple programs simultaneously
  • Ensure On-Time-Launch elements are integrated into Integrated Project Team schedules
  • Present On-Time-Launch status in monthly Monthly Operations Review
  • Follow Integrated Product Development System launch process
  • Work with reactive quality team for close loop and lessons learned
  • Ability to work specific projects using six sigma approaches to address all launch issues as either a task force leader or team member
  • Ensure Manufacturing Readiness Review is done for launch
  • Work with senior leadership to define and pilot new Launch initiatives
  • Define, develop and lead the deployment of new tools/initiatives within the Launch environment
  • Mentor junior Launch engineers in Advanced Product Quality Planning and Design for Six Sigma activities
  • Interaction with various product groups
  • Review and provide guidance on training materials (Design for Six Sigma & Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • Support template for good Design for Manufacturability, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, KCC, etc.
  • Build lessons learned data for all future launches
  • Participate in audit to ensure Advanced Quality Product Planning is executed per plan as need base
  • Participate in RTY reduction projects as need basis
  • Facilitate Engineering and Sourcing to meet Advanced Quality Product Planning goals

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering, quality, or manufacturing in the Automotive or Aerospace industries


  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Design for Six Sigma, Black Belt certification
  • Masters’ Degree
  • Electrical engineering degree
  • Leadership skills to influence others
  • Technical understanding of Aerospace industry or Automotive industry and how it works
  • Aerospace product knowledge
  • Knowledge of corrective action process, process control plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis and gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, product launch and Statistical Process Control tools
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to analyze problems using six sigma tools
  • Ability to audit and challenge team
  • Understanding of risk analysis
  • Detail understanding of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and multiple projects
  • Strong analytical skills; able to use data, communicate key trends, develop and execute continuous improvement plans
  • Significant engineering experience
  • Master's Degree or advanced professional certification
  • In-depth knowledge of product and process technologies or broad knowledge of multiple product and process technologies
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done
  • Demonstrate business impact and continuous drive for improvement
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness, even in the face of complexity
  • Competence to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience
