Honeywell Engineer Principal Project - Tempe, AZ in Tempe, Arizona

The Principal Project Engineer will lead a 5-15 member cross-functional team and or multiple small engineering teams to resolve Phase 6 Service Related Difficulty issues, as well as productivity and cost reduction programs. This position includes responsibility for technical leadership, cost control, schedule execution, milestone management and customer/PM interface to meet key milestones and program objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall technical execution, coordinating the activities of support organizations and direct project engineers associated with the design, analysis, and test of pneumatic valve assemblies.

  • Assess and identifies technical solutions to resolve factory line stoppages or productivity improvement programs

  • Plans multiple work packages, develops cost, integrated schedules and milestones for component development programs to align with internal/external customer commitments.

  • Execute project plans, monitor progress and manage technical/schedule risk to achieve key program milestones within the approved project budget.

  • Clearly and succinctly communicates project status and risks, prepares and presents project materials to Tier 3 and above internal and external leadership.

  • Oversees preparation, review and approval for documentation and deliverables.

  • Primary Point of Contact for internal and external customers to achieve program objectives.

  • Interface with AME and Production Support Engineering to incorporate APQP into the development process to meet RTY targets.

  • Coordinate development/qualification test activities with Engineering Test Services to achieve program milestones.

  • Mentors and coaches junior project engineers.

    You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years in leading a 5-15 person team or lead multiple engineering product development teams

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

    We Value:

  • Candidates with aircraft systems, turbine engine and/or related aerospace mechanical component experience are preferred Experience in hardware/component development programs.

  • Technical knowledge of applicable products (valves, engines, aircraft systems, etc).

  • Knowledge of electrical-mechanical devices a plus

  • Has experience using root cause tools such as fault tree, fishbone, 5 why’s

  • Ability to lead teams to meet expectations of internal and external customers.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skilled in conveying technical ideas and concepts through team discussions, presentations and in writing.

  • Goal oriented in meeting performance, schedule and budget requirements. Monitors own activities and the activities of team members, ensuring that tasks are appropriately defined, supported and achieved in a timely manner.
