Honeywell Engineer Principal Project - Tempe, AZ in Tempe, Arizona
The Principal Project Engineer will lead a 5-15 member cross-functional team and or multiple small engineering teams to resolve Phase 6 Service Related Difficulty issues, as well as productivity and cost reduction programs. This position includes responsibility for technical leadership, cost control, schedule execution, milestone management and customer/PM interface to meet key milestones and program objectives.
Responsible for overall technical execution, coordinating the activities of support organizations and direct project engineers associated with the design, analysis, and test of pneumatic valve assemblies.
Assess and identifies technical solutions to resolve factory line stoppages or productivity improvement programs
Plans multiple work packages, develops cost, integrated schedules and milestones for component development programs to align with internal/external customer commitments.
Execute project plans, monitor progress and manage technical/schedule risk to achieve key program milestones within the approved project budget.
Clearly and succinctly communicates project status and risks, prepares and presents project materials to Tier 3 and above internal and external leadership.
Oversees preparation, review and approval for documentation and deliverables.
Primary Point of Contact for internal and external customers to achieve program objectives.
Interface with AME and Production Support Engineering to incorporate APQP into the development process to meet RTY targets.
Coordinate development/qualification test activities with Engineering Test Services to achieve program milestones.
Mentors and coaches junior project engineers.
You Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience.
Minimum of 5 years in leading a 5-15 person team or lead multiple engineering product development teams
Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
Candidates with aircraft systems, turbine engine and/or related aerospace mechanical component experience are preferred Experience in hardware/component development programs.
Technical knowledge of applicable products (valves, engines, aircraft systems, etc).
Knowledge of electrical-mechanical devices a plus
Has experience using root cause tools such as fault tree, fishbone, 5 why’s
Ability to lead teams to meet expectations of internal and external customers.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skilled in conveying technical ideas and concepts through team discussions, presentations and in writing.
