Aerospace Engineering & Technologies (E&T) China Team, as part of Honeywell Technology Solutions China – an integrated R&D center of Honeywell in China, is a multi-disciplinary team with over 10 years of contributions to Honeywell’s development in the aerospace industry in China. Our Air Traffic Management (ATM) Laboratory in China, an integral part of E&T Advanced Technology (AT) global team, conducts research and development in ATM Modernization concepts and technologies. Researchers at the ATM lab build system architecture and domain knowledge on core technologies on CNS/ATM in aligning to Honeywell’s Technology Roadmap and product plan, collaborating with Chinese aerospace, aviation and ATM industry partners on research and development, and ensuring standard harmonization with other Honeywell global ATM initiatives such as FAA’s NextGen and European Union’s SESAR programs. Aerospace E&T China currently has an opening for a Lead/Senior Scientist focusing on autonomous technology research in either Beijing or Shanghai, China. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary global team including professionals from the United States, the European Union, and Asia Pacific in research of the latest autonomous technologies. The successful candidate will lead or support other team members in R&D and the development/demonstration of autonomous technology through innovation program funded internally, participation of external funded programs, and/or collaborating with selected external partners. Primary Responsibilities • Participate in autonomous concept development, system designing, prototyping, integration, as well as simulation and modelling. • Lead or participate to validate and demonstrate the feasibility of the project concept with external partners • Develop breakthrough Intellectual Property of the new autonomous technologies, including patents and conference papers • Follow and study the state-of-art technology in autonomous field. • Develop autonomous capabilities inside team • Mentor engineers with autonomous technical needs • Collaborate across organization to share best practices
Qualifications • Master or higher degree in Computer Science, Automatic Control, Signal Processing, Aeronautical, Communication, or related technical field. • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience with orientation towards avionics and autonomous technology research. • Experience in developing the real autonomous sensing and avoidance technology/products for UAV and UGV is a plus. • Experience in Robot Operating System, Convolutional Neural Networks for classification and segmentation, different sensors (e.g. cameras, LIDAR, IMUs, etc.), Navigation (e.g. Kalman Filtering), Path Planning (e.g. RRT, PRM, RRT*, etc.) and libraries such as OMPL (Open Motion Planning Library). • Expertise in using C/C , OpenCV, Point Cloud Library, GPU computation, OpenGL, etc. • Experience in working with Linux, real-time SW development, potentially simulation environments (e.g. Gazebo) • Strong Presentation and briefing skill • Effective communicator • Fluent in English and Mandarin • Self-motivated, highly ambitious, out of ¬the ¬box ¬thinking. • Proven Technology Research & Development Project leadership experience.
