Software Co-op- Fall 2017

We are looking for a Software Co-op to work with us from August 2017- December 2017. Candidate should be local to the Raleigh, NC area. We are not offering housing or relocation assistance.

Description

The Connexo NetSense development group designs, implements, and supports the head-end software for the EnergyAxis AMI system. Connexo NetSense is an enterprise class back office software system designed for high availability, high performance, scalability, and extensibility.

Co-op will work with Software Engineers and other co-op students in developing components of Elster's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) software. Specifics include:

•Provide estimates of development effort and risk to Product Management for new features based on requirements analysis

•Design and implement new functionality to meet requirements

•Develop new software solutions for delivery to customers

•Work within the development team to share responsibility for the product architecture

•Document design decisions and participate in design reviews

•Learn Elster's 2-way AMI metering and home automation products

•Support and enhance software through refactoring and extension

•Design decision-making and architectural definition tasks

•Help the team resolve level 3 customer support issues

•Recommend improvements to the software development and release process

•Work in a small Agile team with other co-op students and senior development mentors to deliver incremental improvements to Connexo NetSense

Basic Qualifications:

•Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related

•Must be a Sophomore or a Junior at time of Co-op and able to complete a co-op prior to graduating

Additional Qualifications:

•Java, C++, or C# software development

•Javascript development, particularly with ext-js or Sencha

•XML and related technologies

•Working knowledge of Windows operating system

•Excellent communication skills

•Ability to learn quickly

•Excellent problem solving skills
