Product Design Engineer III

Launch innovations in nearly every commercial and defense aircraft platform

Responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of the structural parts used in gas turbine propulsion engines and auxiliary power units for Aerospace Engine & Power Systems (E&PS). These responsibilities include the design, analysis, development, testing, supplier support, and field support of static structure components. Analysis must be performed to address stress, strength, vibration, heat transfer, deflection, fatigue life, containment, material selection, and others as needed. The materials are common aerospace materials including composites and superalloys.

Make inventive design advancements to exceed customer expectations for engine mechanical integrity and requirements.

Drive continuous improvement in design criteria, guidelines, and practices.

YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Proficient experience in the design and analysis of structural components
US Citizen or permanent resident
WE VALUE
Ability to perform complex stress analyses and hand calculations of engine components
Advanced knowledge of solid mechanics, fatigue, heat transfer, thermodynamics and finite element analysis
Experienced user of analysis tools ANSYS, NASTRAN, and LS DYNA
Experience with composite structural components analysis.
Ability to develop effective test plans and perform data redaction with test results to make well-thought out decisions.
Effective mentoring of less-experienced engineers.
Proficient technical report writing and presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal and team skills to resolve problems and to improve engineering-manufacturing integration.
Demonstrates sense of urgency to address issues and proactively and appropriately escalates issues as needed.
