JOB SUMMARY:

This position involves the performance of Final Assembly operations such as packing and fulfilling various tasks associated with the final back packing line cell.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Visually inspect all meters and materials at each station to insure a quality product. Must pull and inspect Q.A. samples, marking the skids as required.

*Put together hex nuts (guard nuts).

*Insert top plugs, and index box plugs with a plugger (bumble bee).

*Process special sealing procedures on all meters.

*Pre-stamp serial numbers on tags or labels as required.

*Fold boxes, insert meter, push down line to printer where the box is stamped, taped, and packed. Push to pack area.

*Stamp tubes and cartons and assemble egg crates as required. Assemble decking, top lids, and separators. Store as required.

*Write order numbers, serial numbers, and skid numbers on pallets as well as any other necessary information.

*Pack as required and program printer.

*Remove from mono-rail the hooks, badge boxes and swivels that have excessive paint on them and replace with those that have been cleaned (goes through salt bath).

*Clean badge boxes in the sandblaster.

*Prepare weekly parts usage list and make available to all packing line operators.

*Check orders for special parts such as decals, tags, etc. to assure these parts are available prior to meter assembly, and apply to meters as required.

*General and preventative maintenance as required, includes changing light bulbs, oiling and greasing equipment.

*Follow-up to verify completion of orders.

*Use of computer is required - includes scanning enscans, typing AMR's.

*Haul out trash. Knowledge on how to operate both compactors.

*Provide parts and material as needed.

*Process all special orders as needed.

*Rotation is the ultimate goal of this cell.

OTHER DUTIES:

*Maintain good housekeeping in the Meter Focus Factory.

*Perform other necessary operations to help the Meter Focus Factory run efficiently.

*Rework and repair as needed.

*Perform minor repair to meters (cosmetic) and assist in replacing meters that have "fallen out" back to their respective skids.

*Interaction between shifts and other areas is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

*An above average degree of knowledge is required to perform this operation.

*Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

*Ability to use computer and program printer.

*Good communication skills.

*Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions independently and complete paperwork as required.

*Ability to make judgments based on judgmental criteria.

*Ability to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts in terms of personal viewpoints.

*Ability to perform under stress when faced with emergency, critical, or unusual situations.

*Adaptability to accept responsibility for the direction of the cell.

MANUAL SKILL:

An average degree of manual skill is needed. Good dexterity is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITY

An above average degree of responsibility is required. The operators in this position will be responsible to provide a defect free product using proper safety and other department procedures.

EFFORT:

A moderate degree of physical effort is required. An operator may be continuously lifting between 12 and 25 lbs. and occasionally lifting and carrying between 50 and 60 lbs. Other activities include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, hearing, and visual inspection of parts. Pushing and pulling with use of a floor jack - approximate weights from 26 - 1169 lbs. Color vision is necessary. Repetitive movements are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Good working conditions. Exposed to any number of elements as noise, dirt, grease, paint fumes, and chemicals (see JSA), with at none continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.
