Product Manufacturing Engineer Manager

The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for product integrity manufacturing output and continuous improvements working with factory operations, demand planning, engineering, AME, and sourcing. This role will drive site product improvement initiatives and improvement to the technical capability of the Product Engineers. This position reports to the Sr. Product Engineering Manager at Minneapolis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for coordinating activities between Product Engineer, Operations, Product Support Engineering (PSE), design engineering, and Quality Assurance teams. Identify and analyze product opportunities / issues

  • Plan, deploy, monitor and control site-level improvement initiatives using DMAIC producibility operating system to drive product and process improvements

  • Support Customer and Supplier communication to ensure and improve Product Quality and delivery

  • Coordinate activities with support functions such as sourcing, HR, finance, HS&E, etc.

  • Ensuring resource availability as required, proactively integrate functional interaction such as supplier quality assurance, transitions, material productivity, cost reductions. Support AME and NPI Engineers

  • Utilize Six Sigma Plus, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tools to drive process improvement

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Honeywell Operating System (HOS)

  • Ensure technical compliance with HS&E, OSHA regulations and requirements

  • Ensure Labor Productivity, Product Producibility, IIOT, and Process Automation projects are managed to schedule and budget with an effective Management Operating System – MOS

  • Ensure estimated savings are realized

  • Lead/responsible for overall improvement of unit cost management including Cost Savings, Quality Measures, Product Cost, Productivity, Escapes and First Pass Yields

  • Demonstrate people management skills including talent development, coaching and developing high performance teams, communication, knowledge transfer, leadership skills with ability to influence and provide leadership, and provide project management skills with the ability to close initiatives on time and within budget

  • Lead the reduction in quality escapes, reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and improve Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY). Participate with New Product Development (NPD) Engineers and the Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) process (Phase 1-5) for product transition into manufacturing including supporting the sign-off approval process

  • Responsible for Phase 6 programs including Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) gap closure plans

  • Ensure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures

  • Own and maintain the strategy for tooling, and factory test equipment. Support all internal and regulatory audits as required

  • Identify Root Cause Corrective Actions using processes such as Corrective Action Mistake-Proofing (CAMP)

  • Responsible for analysis and identification of capital equipment needs to address gaps in capacity

  • Manage department burden, tooling, obsolescence, and momentum budgets

  • Manages assigned resources and aligns census with project and factory needs

  • Provide technical leadership to the site to ensure improvements or achievement of AOP in the following: On-Time Delivery, PPM, Escapes, Cycle-time Reduction, First Pass Yield, Turn around Time, Inventory Reduction, COPQ and Safety

  • Improve the PE organizations impact on enterprise by improving product producibility

  • Establish strong working relationship with operations, product health teams, and embrace self-managed work teams

  • Serve the factory through responsive resolution to factory floor issues, and flow disruption. Lead product escape containment actions and RCCA

  • Deliver on customer’s expectations of escape-free products

    YOU MUST HAVE

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field

  • 4 years of directly related experience in Product Engineering

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project status and program needs across different levels of the organization and different operating environments

  • Green Belt, DFSS, Lean or Black Belt certification. Demonstrated ability in using six sigma tools

  • Ability to work effectively in a functional organization

  • Excellent computer skills including EXCEL and MS Project

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Honeywell Operating Systems (HOS)

  • Familiar with SAP operating system

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques and their impact on costs
