Credit Controller - English
The credit controller is responsible for the overall accounts receivable credit + collection process for a specified customer portfolio and country. This includes verbal and written communication and interaction with internal and external customers aiming at receiving cash on time at due date. The credit controller also leads the dispute resolution process in our complex building solutions business. Besides that the credit controller is responsible for performing credit checks and evaluating credit limits on new and existing customesr. If necessary, the credit controller will block customers for further business and initiates legal action where needed. The credit controller acts as business partner for our finance- and operations organization
Credit + collection for a specified customer portfolio and country:
The credit controller is responsible for timely collection of all debts for a specified customer portfolio/book of debtors in our building automations business (HBS). This includes debts where a deeper understanding or our offerings is needed as HBS is engaged in the construction industry offering tailor made services and solutions.
A) daily follow up of past due accounts receivables transactions with our customers by telephone or mail in accordance with our established collection procedures. This includes investigation of approver chains within the customer hierarchy and also verbal and written communiciton with external planning- and archtitect's offices and internal project managers and field service leaders.
B) Leading the dispute resolution process with our customer and other external involved parties like planning- and architect's offices and internal stakeholders like project managers, finance leaders, field service leaders, contract managers, sales representatives and internal customer service / backoffice organization
C) escalation of past due receivables to our district management team where necessary, i.e if disputed receivables are not being resolved in a timely manner or, when encountering customers with poor payment behavior.
D) Regular participation in recurring cash calls in order to discuss past due debts with our district management team.
Credit evaluation & legal action
A) daily examination of customers where sales orders have run on block due to exceeded credit limits or other credt specific parameters. Deciding whether new sales orders can be proceeded or, need to be left on block until the overall credit exposure became reduced or past due invoices were paid by the client. Contact relevant interested parties (i.e. sales representative, field service leader, project manager, contract manager or district finance leader) where necessary.
B) evaluation of credit limits on new and existing customers, examination of relevant available credit reports and key financial paramteres being provided by Dun & Bradstreet. If necessary, perform further investigations on the internet or with customer banks if there are open questions on credit worthiness of a client.
C) Proposing payment terms & conditions to the sales representive&contract manager (i.e. advance payments or other credit securities like bank bonds) where the preferred sales order value exceeds credit recommendation.
D) Initiation of stopping the supply of goods and services or legal action where necessary. This is being done in conjunction with the related parties (i.e. finance leader, contract manager, operations leader)
Active participation in continious improvement projects
The credit contoller takes actively part in continious improvement projects (like Six Sigma or HOS) in order to support further improved credit and collection and back office/administrational processes. This includes regular usuage of the Kaizen and rapid problem solving methodology. The credit controller should also regularly contrbute new ideas and proposals which could help further improving (cross) functional processes
• For this role the person should have a university bachelor degree and at least 2-3 years of experience in finance, accounting or other related functions like customer service
• ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels,
• ability to reconcile complex accounts and have excellent attention to detail
• competence in Microsoft Office products, Excel and accounting software programs (i.e. Oracle, SAP)
• calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations
• Knowledge of HBS end to end "order to cash" processes and having experience in corporations maintaining the "continous improvement" approach
