DESCRIPTION

The Sustainability Technologies group is looking for a highly-qualified Project Engineer that will deliver working solutions in a fast prototype / demonstration environment. The ideal candidate will provide a balance of project engineering, systems engineering, engineering expertise, and project execution for the design and development of customized sample environments to support experimental research and development efforts.

Sample environmental parameters may include a wide variety of needs including, low to ultralow temperatures, electromagnetic systems and controls, high to ultrahigh vacuum, and/or mechanical motion and vibrational stability.

JOB ACTIVITIES

Lead the execution of the engineering scope by working with the team’s Principle Investigator to discover and then deliver novel and robust solutions.Capture and manage requirements from elicitation, definition, decomposition, allocation, prioritization, tracking, and test mapping.Provide Systems Engineering support to sample environment team early in Technology Readiness Level (TRL) development while setting the conditions for achieving higher TRL maturity.Understand and translate system functional level architecture definition, modeling and analysis using system modeling tools and techniques.Develop Voice of the Customer (VOC) analysis and directly support stakeholder’s Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development.Be primary author of systems engineering artifacts and documentation.Manage the completion of technical scope and project risk.Ensure the team follows integrated engineering processes including, requirements management, change management, integration, certification, peer review, delivery, etc.Communicate regularly to communications to stakeholders.

U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain government security clearance.Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer/ Software Engineering, or other technical disciplineExperienced with requirements capture and management using tools such as DOORS and TeamCenter10 years project engineering leadership experience10 years technical experience

Master’s or PhD in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mechanical EngineeringEquivalent ability to both (1) maintain broad, system-wide perspective as well as (2) deep dive into multi-disciplinary challenges to identify solutionsAbility to support development of documentation required in support of both technical and training requirementsMembership in the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) or related professional organization(s) for Systems EngineeringProficient with Systems Engineering Tools such as Enterprise Architect, IBM Rational, or other Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Unified Modeling Language (UML) toolsAs a top candidate, you will have strong organizational & leadership skills, and be good at working and negotiating with customers and partners.
